Reinterpret the cinema of Andrzej Wajda through your own audiovisual language.
The WAJDA RE/FRAME international competition is organized as part of the Andrzej Wajda Year 2026 celebrations, established by the Senate of the Republic of Poland, marking the 100th anniversary of the birth and 10th anniversary of the death of the outstanding director, a master of Polish and world cinema.
Participants are invited to work with selected films by Andrzej Wajda and transform them into new audiovisual forms – found footage film essays. Through editing, reinterpretation, narration, sound, text, or experimental audiovisual approaches, participants are encouraged to develop personal and contemporary responses to Wajda’s cinema.
Rather than focusing on academic analysis, the competition aims to open new perspectives on Wajda’s cinema and encourage dialogue between film heritage and emerging international voices.
The Main Prize is a study visit to Poland following the artistic legacy of Andrzej Wajda, including meetings with filmmakers, experts, representatives of film institutions and visits to places connected with his life and work. Selected essays will also be published online on the Lodz Film School YouTube channel.
